Singapore
Ready to visit Singapore? Let's connect with Letstravelglobe to find out about traveling to your dreamy places.
Singapore, a small island republic in Southeast Asia, has become one of the world’s most
successful countries. Walk around for a day and you’ll see everything you’d expect from an
ultramodern civilization, including an outstanding skyline, contemporary architecture, high-end retail complexes, and an efficient subway system.
Despite its steel and glass veneer, Singapore retains much of the ethnic and cultural variety that gave it the nickname of “the melting pot of Asia”. While iconic landmarks like Marina Bay Sands and Supertree Grove are magnificent, it’s also important to recognize the city’s ethnic enclaves, which retain each culture’s own heritage and customs.
Take a city sightseeing bus and you’ll be taken to diverse areas including Little India, Chinatown, Arab Street, and Kampong Glam in half an hour. Singapore’s appeal stems from its delicate blend of modernism and cultural heritage. Another interesting fact about Singapore is that it is the world’s second most densely inhabited country, behind Monaco. It doesn’t seem crowded when you’re there, which might be attributed to the efforts taken to make it a lovely and livable green city.
Best Time To Visit Singapore
- Singapore is hot and humid all year round, so there is no ideal time to visit weather-wise. The
average temperature is 26-27°C, and humidity is always greater than 80%, regardless of the
time of year. - The only thing you generally need to know about Singapore’s weather is that the wettest months are November through January. That is the monsoon season, so you may want to avoid those months if you don’t want to face more rain.
- NOV-JAN: As previously said, this is monsoon season, hence it will be the driest period of year in Singapore. However, it is also the coldest, which may appeal to those unfamiliar with the sweltering Southeast Asian weather. I’ve read that it usually rains in spurts in Singapore, even during the driest months, so it might not matter as much. Locals recommend hiding in a mall until the rain stops.
- FEB-OCT: Singapore has its driest weather from June to August. We went once in late June, and it was cloudy and drizzled for a few days, but that was it. The rest of the day was hot and sunny, and the humidity remained high.
TRAVEL TO SINGAPORE
- The bulk of tourists visiting Singapore will arrive via plane at Changi Airport. There are various
options for getting to downtown Singapore from Changi. - BY SUBWAY (SMRT): The SMRT is the quickest and most affordable method to get to
downtown Singapore from the airport. It took us around 45 minutes to reach Little India MRT
Station. Since mid-2022, ticketing machines have been phased away in Singapore, therefore
you must use a stored value card to utilize the metro system. You may find additional
information on the Visit Singapore website. You may also use this MRT fare calculator to get the fare to your location. - BY PUBLIC BUS: This is another economical alternative that will take you into the city in little
over an hour. Unlike the metro, you can pay with cash, but the fare will be greater. You’ll also
need to arrange the correct amount because there is no change provided. Bus 36 departs from the basement bays of Changi Airport Terminals 2 and 4 and heads into the city. For additional information on riding public buses from the airport to downtown, see the Changi Airport Handbook. - BY TAXI: This is the simplest but most costly method. It will cost you between SGD 20 and 40
to travel into the city via cab. Maxi Cabs are huge taxis that can accommodate larger groups. - They can accommodate up to 7 guests for a fixed rate of SGD 60. You may get additional
information on the Changi website. - If you prefer a private transfer, you may book it in advance with look.
We flew to Singapore, but there are numerous methods to get there depending on your location.
